Service 06 · Wheels, tyres & headlights

Bright wheels. Clear headlights.

Brake dust bakes onto alloys in this heat, and the sun turns headlight lenses yellow and hazy. Both come off. The wheels get their own buckets and brushes, and the headlights get a proper multi-stage restoration with a UV sealant to finish.

What is included

Barrels, not just faces.

Most washes clean the part of the wheel you can see. We clean the part you cannot, because that is where brake dust and salt air do their damage.

  • Dedicated wheel buckets, mitts and brushes, never the ones that touch your paint
  • pH-neutral, colour-changing iron remover to dissolve bonded brake dust on faces, spokes and barrels
  • Barrels, calipers and the backs of the spokes brushed by hand, reaching behind the wheel
  • Wheel arches and arch liners rinsed clear of sand
  • Tyres scrubbed clean of old browning and road grime before anything new goes on
  • Water-based tyre dressing in a satin finish, gloss on request, applied thin so it stays on the tyre
  • Wheel nuts, centre caps and valve caps cleaned and dried
  • Headlight restoration as an add-on: oxidation removed, lens polished clear, UV sealant applied

Preview photography is illustrative. The owner's own photos of the bay and customer cars replace it before launch.

How it works

Three jobs, three kits.

Wheels, tyres and headlights each need different chemistry and different tools. We keep them apart so brake dust never ends up on a lens, and dressing never ends up on your paint.

01 · Wheels

Brake dust dissolved

Iron remover turns purple as it dissolves the brake dust that has bonded to the alloy. Faces, spokes, barrels and calipers are agitated with soft brushes, then rinsed. Tar spots and stubborn sand come off with a dedicated tar remover.

02 · Tyres

Scrubbed, then dressed

Old dressing and grime are scrubbed off with a stiff brush and an all-purpose cleaner until the rubber is bare. A water-based dressing then goes on thin and even. Satin by default: it stays put in the heat and does not fling onto the sills on the drive home.

03 · Headlights

Oxidation removed, UV sealed

Yellowed, hazy lenses are masked off, wet-sanded through finer grades where needed, then machine-polished back to clear. A UV sealant goes on last, because sanding removes the factory coating and bare polycarbonate would cloud again.

Headlight restoration

Why headlights go yellow here.

Headlight lenses are polycarbonate with a thin UV coating from the factory. Years of Gulf sun, sand on the motorway and daily heat cycles break that coating down, and the plastic underneath oxidises: first a yellow tint, then a milky haze that scatters the beam at night. Washing does not touch it, because the damage is in the plastic, not on it.

  • Lens and the surrounding paint masked before any abrasive comes near the car
  • Heavy oxidation wet-sanded through progressively finer grades; light haze goes straight to compound
  • Machine-polished with a fine compound until the lens is optically clear again
  • Panel-wiped to remove oils, then a UV sealant applied and left to cure before the car leaves
  • Both headlights done together so they match, even if only one looked bad

Restoration works on oxidation on the outside of the lens. Moisture, cracking or fogging on the inside is a sealed-unit problem, and we tell you if that is what we see rather than sell you a polish.

Good to know

Wheel and headlight questions, answered.

A deep clean of all four wheels, arches and tyres usually takes 30 to 45 minutes within a wash. Headlight restoration usually adds 45 minutes to an hour and a half for the pair, depending on how far the oxidation has gone and whether sanding is needed. We confirm a pick-up time when you drop the car.

It depends on the sun, where the car is parked and whether the sealant is looked after. Without a UV sealant the haze can come back within months in this climate, which is why we never skip it. With one, and a wash routine that keeps harsh chemicals off the lens, it lasts far longer, and it can be topped up when we see it starting to dull.

It depends on the wheel size and finish, and on how far the headlights have gone. Send us the model and a photo on WhatsApp and we quote in minutes. If you book The Emperor package, headlight restoration is already included.
