Service 03 · Paint correction

Depth of colour, restored.

Swirl marks, light scratches and sun-dulled paint corrected by machine, panel by panel, under the lights. We measure the paint before we touch it and tell you honestly what can and cannot be polished out.

Why paint goes dull

Those fine circles in the sun are swirl marks.

Every automatic brush, every dusty chamois and every dry wipe of sand leaves microscopic scratches in the clear coat. On their own they are invisible. Together they scatter light, which is why a black car in Umm Al Quwain looks grey at noon and shows a spider web of lines under the petrol-station lights.

Polishing removes a very thin layer of clear coat so the surface is flat and true again. Light reflects cleanly, colour comes back with depth, and the finish looks the way it did on delivery day. Done with the right pad, compound and paint-depth checks, it is safe. Done blind, it is not, which is why we never skip the measuring.

What is included

  • Snow-foam pre-wash and two-bucket hand wash so no grit is trapped under the pad
  • Clay decontamination to lift bonded sand, tar and industrial fallout
  • Paint-depth readings on every panel before and during correction
  • Test spot to choose the pad and compound for your paint
  • Single-stage or multi-stage machine correction, agreed with you first
  • Panel wipe and inspection under the lights, then a layer of protection
  • Straight advice on any scratch that is too deep to polish

How it works

Measure, test, then correct.

Three stages, always in this order. The first two are what separate a proper correction from a quick buff that hides swirls for a fortnight.

I

Wash, clay and measure

The car is foamed, hand washed and clayed so the pad only ever meets clean paint. Then we read the paint thickness across every panel. Thin spots, previous repaints and earlier polishing all show up here, and they decide how far we can safely go.

II

Test spot and plan

On one small section we try the gentlest pad and compound that will do the job, check it under the lights, and only step up if the swirls need it. From that test spot we agree with you whether your car needs a single-stage polish or a multi-stage correction.

III

Correct, refine, protect

Each panel is worked in overlapping passes, wiped down and re-inspected before we move on. A finishing polish brings the gloss up, then wax or ceramic protection goes on so the corrected surface is sealed against sun, sand and the next wash.

Straight talk

Single stage or multi-stage?

A single-stage polish uses one pad and one compound to remove light swirls and haze and bring the gloss back in one pass. For most daily-driven cars in the UAE, it is the honest recommendation and it makes a dramatic difference.

A multi-stage correction starts with a heavier cutting step to level deeper swirls, light scratches and oxidation, then follows with one or more refining steps to remove the marks the cutting step leaves behind. It takes considerably longer and removes more clear coat, so we only suggest it when the test spot and the paint-depth readings say it is both needed and safe.

What polishing cannot fix

  • Scratches you can catch a fingernail in: they usually go through the clear coat and need paint, not polish
  • Stone chips and key marks down to primer or bare metal
  • Clear coat that is already peeling, flaking or cloudy from years of UAE sun
  • Paint that has been polished thin before, where another pass would risk striking through

If we find any of these, we show you under the lights, explain what a bodyshop would need to do, and polish around it so the rest of the car still looks its best. We would rather lose a job than burn through your paint.

Good to know

Polishing, answered.

A single-stage polish usually needs the car for most of a day. A multi-stage correction usually needs it for a day or two, depending on the size of the car and the state of the paint. We agree a drop-off and collection time with you on WhatsApp before you bring it in.

No, and anyone who promises that is guessing. Swirl marks, light scratches, water-spot etching and oxidised haze polish out well. Anything that has gone through the clear coat cannot be polished away without damaging the paint, so we tell you before we start and show you why under the lights.

Keep the car away from rotating-brush machines and dry dusting cloths, and have it hand washed with the two-bucket method so sand is rinsed off rather than dragged across the paint. A layer of wax or ceramic protection after the correction makes the surface slicker, so dust and sand release with far less rubbing. Ask us about a maintenance wash plan when you collect the car.
